Lae Residents have raised questions about the maintenance of street roads within the suburban areas.
Today, commuters told EMTV News that some parts of Lae city street roads are getting fixed, while other parts are deteriorating.
Gurney Street, in Lae City’s Eriku suburb, is in a bad state, this morning cars had to pass through pond like potholes.
The main roads of Lae have been fixed, that means regular traffic jams in the streets have become detour’s like Gurney street.
Lae Residents that drive along the road are appalled by it.
“When the traffic jam happens on the main road, the cars come through our street,” says Nancy Rami.
Residents say road works happening around Lae City seem to be concentrated on locations deemed high end.
“The government is not looking to fix the road, look at the big potholes,” says Lena.
There are road improvements being made around the city by contractors, however there are still street roads that need to be fixed.
Attempts to make contact with the Provincial Works department were unsuccessful.
