Lae City Dwellers Planning Better

by Jeremy Mogi – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

With the conclusion of the recently held Momase leg of the BESTA cup, the signs of a stronger National Soccer League outfit appear.

The Lae City Dwellers had an astronomical rise within their first year, claiming the ultimate prize in the NSL with a 5-1 thrashing of Madang FC.

The 2015 Telikom National Soccer League champions, Lae City Dwellers, believe they have much more to offer in the competition.

And at the helm was Peter Gunemba, Lae City’s head coach.

For Gunemba, the key lies in approach and strategy, he believes his team possesses a style and technique that is unique.

The team’s inclusion in the Oceania Champions League has also been a huge bonus to the club, something that the club feels has been a long time coming for the people of Morobe.

This is a sentiment shared by Striker Nigel Dabinyaba.

Dabinyaba, whose parents come from different parts of the country but was raised in Lae, has been instrumental in the club’s success.

He came runner up in the golden boot award, behind team mate, Raymond Gunemba.

The inclusion of new players for the upcoming season, seems a likely prospect.

The bulk of the Dwellers team come from the Lae Football Association, who featured in the playoff of the Momase leg, and who also impressed along the way.

Little doubt remains, that Lae City alongside Hekari will be the biggest threats to watch out for in the new season.
