The High Performance Training Centre in the Port Moresby was colorful this morning, with different karate fighters from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Central, Morobe and National Capital District, from Eastern highlands, East and West New Britain, and Gulf provinces.
Coaches kept close eyes on fighters, assessing their performance.
The trials were only for the Kupmite, to pick out potential fighters. One potential fighter who performed well during the trials was Naorei Joseph from Central, representing the Papa Flames Sohotokan Karate Club.
Judge, Sensei Robert, said selections will be based on performance with the final team of thirty-one fighters. The selections list will be finalised tomorrow for the final PNG Karate team.
The fighters competed in the trials, as part of the selection process, for team PNG.
