More than a hundred thousand kina in goods and cash were stolen inthe early hours of this morning from a well known shop in Port Moresby.
Early shoppers in Gordons were surprised to meet Police parked outside of Jade Island Trading; a popular shop withinthe suburb.
It had becomethe latest victim to robbers who hit at round 3am yesterday morning. Their escape aided by a waiting vehicle outside.
Despite being a clean get away for the robbers,they could not escape CCTV cameras positioned in various locations ofthe building.
This footage shows some ofthe robbers grabbing whatthey could. Some were masked while thers were not. Also amongthem was a child.
Police atthe scene immediately recognized some ofthe individuals involved asthey had encountered some ofthem gambling just outside ofthe premises earlier inthe night.
Though we were not allowed to film inside ofthe shop, we were able to get footage ofthe tools used to exitthe building. It is believedthe robbery was an inside job as locks were cut fromthe inside to allow robbers entry intothe shop. Shop owners said over K100, 000.00 in electrical items such as computers and mobile phones, and cash had been stolen.
The robbery has been labeled as an inside job. Police are now investigating and man-hunt is now underway for the suspects.
Suspects have been identiflied from CCTV cameras withinthe shop and arrests are expected to be made soon.
