Enga Governor Peter Ipatas has again showed his support in investing inthe education of students’from his province.
This timethe governor presented One-hundred thousand kina tothe Port MoresbyInstitute of Matriculation Studies’ Wabag center.
This is a drive bythe governor to support private institutions that provide quality education to students’who have dropped out ofthe formal education system, inthe province.
At a small gthering in Port Moresby overthe weekend, Governor Ipatas madethe presentation.
He said educating children was everyone’s business and those who were able to assist should do so at every opportunity.
Governor Ipatas said private institutions like PIMS deserved every support becausethey providethe opportunities for the many that drop out from formal education.
“We put education as a priority. While we are looking atthe formal sector, we have to also look at students’who are unable to make it to secondary schools,” said Ipatas.
“Sometimes it’sthe circumstances that makethe students’unable to futhertheir education,” he added.
Director and founder of PIMS, Norman Sike acknowledgedthe governor’s consistent drive for education.
This commitment will continue annually withthe view towards significant participation fromthe Enga Provincial government.
