Gulf Polling Update

Polling Preparations for Gulf province are proceeding well. Returning Officer for Kikori Ilau Maikere confirmed all election materials are being airlifted to the respective LLGs. However, warned Polling Officials not to go out at sea during rough seas at Kikori to ensure a Free, Fair and Safe Election.

Gulf Province is set for polling and currently all Election materials especially ballot papers and boxes have been airlifted to the mountains of Kaintiba and Kotidanga areas. This was followed by Ihu LLG, then Baimuru and Kikori East and West.

At the moment all Regional Candidate Posters for polling use have arrived except for Kikori and Kerema Open. Polling Officials are in training at Kerema Urban, East Kerema, and Taure Lakekamu LLG’s.

The Election Manager and Returning Officers have warned Polling Officials to take heed of Weather Warnings and not to travel out during rough seas. They have advised the people about the polling sites through public displays of notices and through the local radio station. And despite the frequency not been clear at some parts of the province, it’s anticipated Polling will commence this Saturday.
