Games Venues Ready

The Sport Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, says the new Sir John Guise Stadium will prove itself to be a world class venue.

Tkatchenko made a surprise inspection of the stadium today, to ensure the Pacific Games ‘jewel in the crown’ will be ready for the hand over on the first of June. 

Sir John Guise Stadium will host the opening ceremony of the Pacific Games as well as all track and field events.

The stadium is ready and in the final stages of preparation with the cleaning up of the venues due to start in four weeks. The indoor complex is also into the final stages of completion.

In a day of positive announcements for the Pacific Games, Tkatchenko also said, the Taurama Aquatic Centre is on track after the two pools had been filled and tested

According to the minister for sport, the games village is almost ready with the finishing touches now commencing.

Bisini Parade has been transformed with grass growing above, and beyond expectations.
