Floods Destroy Oro’s life blood

The Nothern Province is in urgent need of assistance, as flood waters continue to inundate many parts ofthe province.

One ofthe lifelines,the Girua Beidges has been washed last night from heavy rain, cutting of supply of food and fuel fromthe Oro bay wharf to Popondetta town.

Provincial Administrator Owen Awaita says a state of emergency should be declared.

Meantime his administration is considering opening upthe jetty at Kikiri Beach Gona for temporary relief supplies.

A statement fromthe office ofthe Prime Ministersaid Mr O'Neill will make a personal visit to Oro tomorrow to see areas destroyed bythe floods.
