East Taraka Addressed By New Lae Police Boss

Lae Police Boss, Anthony Wagambie Junior, personally visited East Taraka today in his first community awareness outreach as Lae Metropolitan Commander.

The Lae suburb is still angered and shocked after a seven-year-old boy was sexually assaulted and killed by a man on Sunday and the body retrieved on Monday.

Whilst speaking to the community Lae’s new Metropolitan commander, Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Junior, spoke about the role communities had in assisting the police does their jobs.

“It goes back to the community, when they know of people brewing homebrew they must let us now so we take them of the streets, because they are the root cause,” said Wagambie Junior.

Homebrew has been the root cause for most rape, fights and murders.

He stressed that simple human behavior of being polite, respectful and considerate in manner can reduce community disorder.

East Taraka was gripped with grief and anger when the body of Issac Kerope-Wanove was found on Monday after being killed on Sunday.

Issac was sexually assaulted and stabbed multiple times by a man known to the family.

The father of the boy, Andrew Kerope-Wanove, said he talked his family and tribesmen out from retaliating.

“I want peace in the community,” said Andrew.
