East Sepik Province Prepares For PNG Games

With only 4 months remaining to the PNG Games, East Sepik Province is getting its athletes prepared.

Selections for the final Team East Sepik are still in progress.

Already, team organisers and managers are moving quickly to get their teams ready.

Training is continuing for others while those scouting for more talent, are winding up their current tournaMen’s.

Sports Coordinator for Wewak in East Sepik Province, Daniel Kaling, spoke about the different sporting codes in the province taking part in the PNG Games this year, along with sports in general.

He spoke about their preparations and what is going on in the province regarding sports.

So far, already one sport in particular is awaiting the PNG Games. East Sepik Kickboxing announced its final 18 squad of 9 men and 9 women who will represent team Sepik in the PNG Games.

Last week, Minister for Trade and Commerce Richard Maru announced that the next tournament to be held in the province will be a soccer tournament. This tournament will be held in the Yangoru Government Station where youths from around East Sepik Province are expected to attend.

Youths in the province are looking forward to these tournaMen’s as there is only limited time remaining.

Boxing is also in preparation for PNG Games. Next week will see a gathering of East Sepik boxers to determine team selections and their progress towards the PNG Games.

Land for a multipurpose gymnasium has already been allocated for the foundation to be built so that future sporting events can be held in the complex for East Sepik residents.
