The Waigani National Court has today refused the bail application of 39 year-old lawyer Felix Kange, from the Southern Highlands province.
Justice George Manuhu said the Court was unmoved and unconvinced of the affidavits and grounds presented by Kange to be granted bail.
Kange was arrested and charged with the manslaughter of Regina Morove on May 30 in Port Moresby.
On the night of May 14, the alleged shooting took place at their family home in Port Moresby.
According to the facts provided in court, a firearm belonging to Kange accidently went off and killed late Morove.
However, the court today questioned that if it was indeed an accident, how is it that she was shot in the mouth.
The court was also curious that the biological father of Morove and the arresting officer both agreed for the court to grant Kange bail in their affidavits presented last Friday.
Justice Manuhu said it is unusual for the investigator to both be in complete agreement when a case is still fresh.
Manuhu also questioned why Morove’s father agreed for bail to be granted, especially given the fact that Kange is alleged to have been responsible for the detah of his daughter.
Justice Manuhu said the case has not been investigated properly and there are many unanswered questions with regard to the alleged shooting.
