The Court of Disputed Returns today (November 26), ordered a recount for the Simbu Regional Seat.
In handing down his decision, Justice Collin Makail ordered a recount, citing counting errors on the part of the Electoral Commission, following a Petition by former Regional Member, Noah Kool.
Justice Colin Makail handed down his decision for a recount of the Simbu Regional Seat at 1 pm.
His decision followed a petition by former Regional Member Noah Kool that claimed irregularities in the counting process during the 2017 National General Elections.
Simbu Governor Michael Dua said the decision was disappointing but was hopeful the recount would prove that the proper processes were followed, and he was duly elected as Regional Member for Simbu Province.
The court decision comes at a time of change for the province. The previous Provincial Administrator Joe Kunda, was recently replaced by the National Executive Council after his term expired.
Governor Dua has said he will return to Simbu and work with the new PA and await the results of the recount.
