The Papua New Guinea Office of Climate Change and Development will now be working in solidarity with the International Organisation for Migration, to address climate change issues in the country.
This follows after the Memorandum of Understanding was signed today in Port Moresby.
The signing was witnessed by the French Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Pascal Maubert, who described this as a concrete sign of cooperation.
The Papua New Guinea Office of Climate Change and Development Director, Varigini Badira, said that this cooperation will address important components of human dimension linked with climate change.
The International Organisation for Migration said that Papua New Guinea is a striking example of how climate change is affecting the people.
With less attention or focus, this is a real treat to livelihood.
The cooperation is a new approach that challenges the state and stakeholders to properly address current climate change issues in the country.
