Child protection needs to be addressed from life cycle perspective

Be Cedric Patjole

The Post – 2015 Consultation on child protection held last week has brought forward many thought provoking issues.

The priorities highlighted include child protection to come as a stand-alone goal inthe Post – 2015 Global Agenda setting andthe need for Government Departments such as Treasury, Planning, Health, and Education to work closely with line departments.

Stakeholders say child protection needs to be addressed fromthe life cycle perspective in policies and operational levels.

Discussions fromthe consultation are expected to feed intothe Government and UN System&#39’s country report to UN Development Group.

The National Consultation looked at three areas related to child protection: inequalities and enabling environment; missing goals; and unfinished business of MDGs.
