Chairman of Commonwealth Foundation to Visit PNG

The Chairman ofthe Commonwealth Foundation, Sir Anand Satyanand will be in Port Moresby next week as a guest speaker at anIndependence breakfast presentation.

The breakfast is jointly hosted by TransparencyInternationaPNG (TIPNG),the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce &Industry (POMCCI) andthe Business Against Corruption Alliance (BeCA).

 

 

Sir Anand was elected Chairman ofthe Commonwealth Foundation in January 2013 and will serve for a period of two years.

 

The Commonwealth Foundation is a development organisation which works to improverthe lives of people acrossthe Commonwealth by developingthe capacity of civil society.

 

Sir Anand’s professional background is in law. He also served as a judge for 12 years andthen as a Parliamentary Ombudsman in New Zealand for 10 years. As an Ombudsman he developed an association withthe Commonwealth, helping to deliver training courses for newly appointed Ombudsmen and investigators duringthe late 199’s and early 2000s. Hethen served a term as New Zealand’s 19th Governor General from 2006 to 2011.
