A remote school in Rigo District, Central Province, Utaika Primary School, will have its first permanent classroom.
Building materials for their double classroom have arrived, for construction work to proceed.
This new primary school will have the first permanent classrooms, including boarding facility for students.
The Central Provincial Government, for the first time is making a move to help build this school, with its 2015 PSIP funds.
“Education is vital and building schools is a key priority for the Central Provincial Government”, said Central Governor Kila Haoda.
“We want our children to attend the best schools and have an equal opportunity to quality education”, Governor Haoda added.
A sum of K85,000 was used from their PSIP funds to help build a double classroom and boarding facility for the school.
Building materials were airlifted yesterday from Kwikila via helicopter. More materials will be flown in the coming weeks.
Grade 6 teacher Lofi Wairu told EMTV News, this is the first assistance from the Central Provincial Government. “We hope more funding and help will be granted to us going into the future”, Wairu said.
Meanwhile, lack of Health facilities has also seen many die from curable diseases.
Governor Haoda says a health centre will be built soon.
