Body of Missing Man Found in Copra Bag

The body of a missing man was found at Bunabun at Mangen Care Centre in Sumkar District, after police conducted a search following a missing person’s report filed by the deceased’s relatives last week Monday

Cornelius Wadakai, 29-years-old, from Dugulan village, Manam District, had resided at the Mangen care centre.

According to Lae police, he was discovered with his body in a copra bag covered with leaves, and say the victim had sustained a knife wound across his chest, a slashed abdomen and knife wounds to his anus and spinal cord.

Relatives, were called in to identify the body, confirmed his particulars, and his body was taken back to the Care Centre, where it has been buried by his relatives with assistance from the Police.

Police deployed to attend to clashes in Madang, say this the fourth death since  fighting began two months ago, although since 2016, there has been a history of clashes within the province.

Police investigations are still continuing.
