Standards Based Curriculum Training Into Day Three

Teachers are being trained to implement Standards Based Curriculum in elementary schools in Morobe.

They are now three days into the Standards Based Curriculum (SBC) training workshop with their trainers.

Yesterday, over 400 teachers attended the SBC training workshop at two clusters in Lae.

The trainers, who have attended the Elementary SBC Trainers of Trainers (TOT) Workshop last week, are now imparting what they have gained from the TOT workshop.

There are three subjects to be taught in elementary schools as planned in the Standards Based Curriculum.

The elementary students will be taught mathematics, language and culture and community.

Despite the large number of participants, the trainers are working closely with them to make sure the teachers understand the basics before implementing the Standards Based Curriculum at schools.

Lae District will end the Elementary SBC training workshops at Morobe Special Education Centre and Martin Luther Seminary on Friday at noon.

Due to receiving funds late, other districts in Morobe will finish their SBC trainings next week.

Meanwhile, elementary students in Morobe province are having a week off from school, to start fresh with the Standards Based Curriculum next week.
