Music Skills Being Learned at School

By Eric Haurupma – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Students of World Changes Christian School in Port Moresby have been trained in how to play wind instruments.

EMTV News spoke to musician Godelief Arua today about how she has been training students to the play clarinet.

13-year-old Efalani J’Yuave from Goroka in Eastern Highlands, and 12-year-old Micholah Mapi from Southern Highlands are two of her students.

With a passion and love of music they have been training since last year.

After a year of clarinet sessions, Efalani and Micholah are now supervising juniors.

The clarinet is a type of wind instrument, with a single reed mouthpiece, a straight cylindrical tube, bore and a flared bell.

Arua and her students have already played the clarinet on a couple of occasions for an audience, with the most recent tour at Cheshire Home in Port Moresby.

She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Papua New Guinea.
