Kerau is a village in the Tapini LLG of Goilala District and is home to over 300 people.
Access to education and basic health care remain one of the biggest challenges for the LLG Leaders.
Though Goilala is a five minutes flight from Port Moresby, it is considered a remote District because of its mountainous terrains.
With the assistance of Digicel PNG, education and health services are finally reaching the rural communities.
A double classroom and rural aid post will be built in Kerau in the Goilala District of Central province.
This follows the presentation of a one hundred thousand kina cheque by the Goilala MP, Daniel Mona, to Digicel Foundation in Port Moresby today.
This will be the first time the small village will have a double story classroom for its students.
The classrooms are expected to be completed in four weeks’ time and building materials for this classroom have already been air lifted into the area.
The joint service delivery by the local MP and Digicel Foundation is another example of the Public Private Partnership.
