Deceased Body Repatriated

Thirty students and four teachers from Kagua Secondary School, in the Southern Highlands province, had repatriated the body of the 19 year old shot by police two weeks ago.

The students and teachers left Lae at 11pm last night and arrived at the school at 1:30pm.

The 4 teachers and 30 students travelled down to Lae to receive his body from Lae’s funeral home late yesterday afternoon.

Mourning relatives turned up at the Niall Oval and received the deceased body.

They arrived in Kagua secondary school and held his funeral service before his body was formally handed over to his parents.

Kagua secondary school Principal, Kita Yambi, handed over the body to his parents for burial.

Thomas Kela Yama, was shot by Police two weeks ago whilst they were pursuing a 10 seater vehicle, with several suspects armed with homemade guns towards Bumbu settlement area.

Police were shooting at the criminals when the 19 year old was shot in the chest.

The suspects were involved in a robbery at Phone Haus-located along the PNG Post Air Corps Road.

Police have met with the relatives and Lae Metropolitan Commander, Anthony Wagambie Jr, assured the relatives police will look into this incident.

Investigations are currently ongoing.
