With the by-elections for the Sandaun regional seat nearing nominations, the People’s Progress Party has made its position known for it’s candidate.
Simon Solo was formally announced as the party’s candidate today, by party founder and Namatanai MP, Byron Chan. The endorsement for Mr Solo comes after a media statement early this week caused misunderstanding for people in West Sepik.
The Namatanai MP, Byron Chan, said, the party is confident in nominating Simon Solo to bring back leadership in West Sepik. “We welcome Mr Solo to contest under PPP and bring back the leadership in West Sepik Province”, Chan said.
MP Chan says, the party welcomes Mr Solo to run under its flagship. Mr Solo will to contest the Vanimo Regional after a three-years battle, in court ,over election petitions against ousted Governor, Amkat Mai.
Other candidates vying for the seat have also raised their hands to step-aside and support Simon Solo. PPP General Secretary, Moses Kar, and MP Byron Chan will fly into Vanimo to nominate Mr Solo on Monday.
