A ward Councilor in Lae says more Papua New Guinean girls must be encouraged to enter into a broad range of careers and be involved in decision-making.
Carol Yawing, the only woman in the Lae Urban Local Level Government, said parents must take the education of girls seriously.
Her comments come days after PNG celebrated International Women’s day with the rest of the world.
