With a successful outreach to over 180,000 participants in 11 provinces since 2009, the BSP School Kriket program is now venturing to the other remaining centres.
The Highlands Region has seen a lot of interest over the past few months and cricket PNG is now looking at introducing the program to Southern Highlands, as it will be the host of the 8th PNG Games.
East New Britain has also shown interest and Cricket PNG is already working towards establishing the development program there.
In the Nation’s Capital alone, interest has been phenomenal with the countless number of school children raising their hands to take part every year.
This year is no different, in Bavaroko Primary School alone; the program has already got its hands full.
The development program is aimed at providing an opportunity for children to be introduced to the sport of cricket at an earlier age.
In doing so, Cricket PNG will be using this as an avenue to produce professional cricketers to supply the national sides, the PNG Barramundis and the Lewas.

And in 2016 alone, the female participation fell short by 1 per cent to the male’s 50 and this year, the BSP School Kriket will strive to equalise the participation rate.
