Deputy Opposition Leader: Why Print Ballot Papers in Indonesia?

Concerns over the printing of ballot papers overseas have again been raised.

Deputy Opposition Leader, Sam Basil, today questioned why the Electoral Commission is printing the ballot papers in Indonesia.

He says the concern of generic ballot papers being printed and used in border provinces by the Indonesian government is a real threat and the Electoral Commission should look to Australia or New Zealand.

Sam Basil believes that Australia or New Zealand would be a better choice, over Indonesia, if the Electoral Commission was serious about printing overseas.

He said that Indonesia may be able to influence elections on the border.

Deputy Opposition leader then went on to stress the issues of generic ballot papers, he said that the Prime Minister did not answer his question on whether or not the ballots will be marked or not.
