Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) has invested more than K500,000 to support PNG’s five licensed Out of Home Care Centres that provide shelter, care and protection for vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
The centres, licensed by the National Office of Child and Family Services (NOCFS), are the Born Free Foundation and 3-Mile New Hope Centre in the National Capital District, St. Mary’s Home for Vulnerable Children and Bible Faith Outreach (BFO) in Western Highlands Province, and St Francis Care Centre in Mendi, Southern Highlands Province.
Since 2022, KPHL has hosted the annual Port Moresby Charity Golf Challenge to raise funds for the centres. Last year, more than K150,000 was raised through 40 participating teams, corporate sponsorships and event auctions.
The funds were recently distributed. From the 2025 proceeds, Born Free Foundation, Bible Faith Outreach and St Francis Care Centre each received K40,000, St. Mary’s Home received K30,000, and 3 Mile New Hope Centre received K20,000.
KPHL Acting Managing Director Mr. Luke Liria said the company is proud to support Government’s Vision 2050 to leave no child behind. “As the State’s national petroleum and energy company, we are helping vulnerable children grow up in safe, nurturing environments and reach their full potential,” he said. “Through our partnership with NOCFS and the business community, we are ensuring these children are not forgotten. By investing in their wellbeing and education, we are building stronger communities,” Mr. Liria added.
Since 2022, total support stands at: Born Free Foundation K115,000, 3 Mile New Hope K45,000, BFO K140,000, St. Mary’s K90,000 and St Francis K140,000.
Recipients thanked KPHL. St Francis founder Ms Rebecca Rami said funds will complete a girl’s dormitory, while BFO’s Mrs. Rosa Kepo said past support helped build a boys dormitory now in use.
The next Charity Golf Challenge will be held in November.
