FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup: New Zealand’s Junior Football Ferns On Top in Group C

New Zealand beat the Black Princesses of Ghana 1-0 last night in an entertaining match at the PNG Football Stadium.

New Zealand now sits on top in Group C on 3 points.

Ghana were more dominant all throughout the match, but failed to put their chances away.

New Zealand had a few opportunities throughout the match through forward, Paige Satchell, who played outstandingly for the team, and was awarded the player of the match.

The match winner came in the last 3 minutes of the match from substitute Tayla Christensen.

New Zealand Coach Leon Birnie was quite impressed with his team’s performance all throughout the 90 minutes, knowing how strong Ghana is.

Even though he was disappointed with the loss, Ghana Coach Mas-Ud Dramani, took it as a positive, saying the loss will make them look forward to the next match.

Ghana will face France, while New Zealand take on USA tomorrow.
