The Yangoru-Saussia district of the East Sepik Province has seen a massive population increase in the last 20 years. With the National Government’s Free Education Policy, enrolments of students in the district have doubled over the last two years. Moreover the increased enrolments have left schools in the district without space to cater for children wanting an education.
However, local MP, and Minister for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Richard Maru with his district administration, is embarking on a major education upgrade in the district.
Minister Maru, when presenting funds for the construction of the new Joseph Dawary Memorial Primary School at Yangoru Station yesterday, said Yangoru-Saussia was once producing some of the country’s top intellects. The Minister said the district will embark on Christian education to make the district the model for education in East Sepik Province.
Minister Maru presented K400,000 to the LLG President of East Yangoru to start construction of the new primary school.
