The Wewak District in East Sepik Province, on Friday, launched its District Development Authority (DDA).
The event was officiated by Local MP and CS Minister, Jim Simatab, Nuku MP and Inter-Government Relations vice Minister, Joe Sungi, and East Sepik Governor, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.
The main highlight of the event was the launch of the DDA’s Management and Implementation Plan.
Wewak MP Simatab said the plan is focused to set a clear direction for the district. He said it is assessing tool that will see services being delivered more effectively.
East Sepik Governor, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, said the DDA is a stepping stone for development in Wewak. Sir Michael however challenged the National Government to be committed in delivering funds to every district in the country.
Vice Minister, Joe Sungi, said Wewak District is in the right path with the management plan a bonus for the DDA.
Wewak District is the first District in Papua New Guinea to have its DDA’s Management and Implementation Plan.
