VSAT to Boost Learning for Wardstrip Primary

Students at Wardstrip Primary School inthe Nation’s Capital will soon have access to internet via satellite to boosttheir learning.

 

A private telecommunications company has been engaged to provide this service.

Part payment of Forty Thousand kina was made yesterday for works to begin immediately.

 

 

Just like Telikom’s Clean ITprogram, this local company will provide internet services at affordable rates; rates much lower that what currentInternet Service providers are providing.

 

Chairman ofthe School, Sam Maiha saidthe world was fast globalising and students’need to be in par with overseas students’

 

He saidthe internet will also assist teachers with information and for them to communicate with working parents through emails.

 

Managing Director of NIMPNG Ltd, Mathew Wari while thankingthe school board for having confidence in his company, said he has seen how internet could improver learning and he has gone into this business to help schools aroundthe country to access this service.

 

Total cost for the installation of this service will be 72,000 kina, however part payment of K40, 000 was made yesterday bythe school treasurer to NIMPNG.

 

When this service is installed, only Grades seven and eight students’will be allowed to access it. While students’will have this privilege,the school administration will also monitor and filterthe different websit’s students’can access.
