Open Forum: Village leaders express views on PNG LNG project

A first public forum was held yesterday between leaders of impacted villages from the PNG LNG plant site, the umbrella company and the developers.

The forum is a result of a recent stop work by local workers of a sub-contractor. The forum sought to hear and find solutions to many of the issues of the impacted villages and the local employees. It was an avenue for the village leaders to express their views on the project and its impact.

Discussions were held about employment, training, spinoff business, community projects and land compensation.
