The University of Papua New Guinea has clarified that its forum square is not a place for public forums, as alluded to by Police Commissioner Gari Baki, yesterday.
In a letter addressed to the Police Commissioner today, UPNG Vice Chancellor, Professor Albert Mellam, stressed that the UPNG forum Square is not open to the General Public.
Professor Mellam said all school facilities inside the campus, are for the sole use of students alone.
He said if other activities are to be held there, in relation to school matters, they will also be considered, and a collective decision made.
He said the letter was meant to correct the misconception that the Police Commissioner referred to, when calling on the Opposition to find an alternative venue for their public gathering.
