Trukai Rice Winners Walk Away with Smartphones

by Bridgette Komatep – EM TV, Port Moresby

Trukai Industries Limited has contributed K10 million in excess to on-going health, education and sporting programs.

The rice company rewards its loyal customers through competitions, such as the I Love My Jasmine promotion, which ran during February.

Trukai Industries announced its six lucky winners recently at the headquarters in Port Moresby. Winners of the I Love My Jasmine competition won a free Samsung Galaxy 5 smartphone. Of the six winners, three were present to claim their prizes.

The winners present were Emma Mell, Jolene Kavo and Harriet Anderson. Nicola Ani Otto, the fourth person to redeem her prize, joined in later on. Apart from the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphones, the winners were given a 1kg bale of Jasmine rice.

The marketing team from Trukai Industries Limited said the competition was a way of rewarding loyal consumers. The company will be running similar competitions in the coming months. They say agriculture is at the core of Trukai Industries and, as a company, it invests K200 million in local agricultural industry infrastructure.

This includes a 220,000 tonne rice mill and packing plant, with 12 national supply centres serving more than 80 wholesale and retail distributors.

About 200,000 tonnes of rice was sold, including over 2,500 tonnes of Jasmine Rice, between the 1st of May, 2013 and April 30th, 2014. The rice company believes that the competition helps to promote its products and, at the same time, reward loyal customers.
