The Annual Trukai Fun Run Auction which was held last night here in Port Moresby, and in Lae the previous night, raised a total of K526,050 from the shirts alone.
With the actual Trukai Fun event coming up in June, the shirts will be distributed to schools by the various business houses that purchased the shirts.
PNG Olympics Committee President, Sir John Dawanicura, was pleased with the continuous support this event has been receiving.
With the aim of providing financial support for PNG Athletes, the Fun Run concept was carried across 17 different provinces since Trukai came on board in 2000.
And for the last 18 years, it has been supporting three worthy courses; mainly the PNGOC with Athletes, and the schools it has reached out to during the fundraising drives and the Rotary Club.
Just like the previous years, this year’s auction saw a great turn out from business houses.
As of last night’s takings, the Auctions in both in Lae and Port Moresby saw a total of K526,050, with Port Moresby’s being the highest with 31,200 shirts sold.
Tru Tru Wara was present and got the School of Defence New Recruits a total high of 1,400 shirts. The highest buy of the evening.
