Tickets for the Queensland Intrust Super Cup finals are selling fast, in what is expected to be an exhilarating match day program to wrap up the 2015 season.
The finals will be staged at the home of Queensland rugby league: Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.
In the race for the minor premiership, the Townsville Blackhawks edged out the PNG SP Hunters by one point, after the Blackhawks 46-22 win over the Redcliffe Dolphins at the end of the regular season.
Leading the points ladder since round three, the Blackhawks finished their inaugural season with 19 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses; with a total of 43 points in the competition and scoring 870 points with a for-and-against of +507.
The Hunters earned second placing with 18 wins, two draws and three losses.
The SP Hunters will go up against the Blackhawks at the Jack Manski Oval in Townsville, next weekend, in the match to decide who moves on to the grand final on September 27.
The grand final will also see the commemoration of the 20th year celebration of the Intrust Super Cup, with the competition’s finest players over the last two decades to be recognised. Lead up games to the final big match will see the NRL Development Cup (Primary Schools final), Schoolboys Test between Australia and New Zealand and the FOGS Colts Challenge decider.
Papua New Guinea is rallying behind the SP Hunters with fans optimistic of the local boys securing a spot in the finals.
The Intrust Super Cup finals will be played at 3:55pm, Sunday, September 27.
