The Community Development, Youth and Religion Department is now the custodian of the SCPP

The Community Development, Youth and Religion Department is now the custodian of the State-Church Partnership Program.

The transfer was executed by the National Planning and Monitoring Department on Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

National Planning Minister, Charles Abel, at the hand over take over, said the transfer was viable because religion was a mandate for the Community Development Department.

Minister Abel handed over all policy documents and paper work for the State-Church Partnership Program to Minister responsible for the Community Development Department, Delilah Gore.

Minister Abel said that this public investment program was implemented by the National Planning and Monitoring Department for an interim period.

“We all must comply with this policy. We keep the implementation of public funds to be the focused, as possible on outcomes and align with the government’s purpose and intention,” he said.

Under the Church Development Council, Minister Abel said the National Government will continue to support the Churches in their programs, in service delivery in priority areas of health and education.

“We truly want to partner with the Churches, add meaning to this engagement. Leaders at all levels need to behave like true Christian with the spirit of the Lord which is truly alive,”

Meanwhile, Minister Gore thanked the National Planning Department for bringing the program forward.

She said this was a timely Christmas gift for the department.

“Churches deliver similar services and we must continue to empower and support them to do more,” Gore said.
