National representative players of the Solomon Islands men and women’s volleyball teams engaged in a five-day long technical training camp “Olympic Solidarity FIVB Young Players Course.”
Part of Team Solomon Islands’ preparations for the Pacific Games, the training also included young, emerging players with the potential to go further in the sport. Visiting technical director of the course from Germany provided in-depth training and expert advice on both theoretical and practical aspects of the sport.
The Olympic Solidarity FIVB Young Players Course began on Wednesday 11 March, with a ceremony marking the opening, attended by government representatives and members of the National Olympic committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI).
Sessions were comprised of theory lessons and skills training, with participants issued certificates at the end of the course.
A total of 40 athletes were selected for the Olympic Solidarity FIVB Young Players Course.
NOCSI hopes that with the training, national representative players are better prepared for the Games in Port Moresby, and will put into practise all that they have learnt through the course.
