The NCD Women’s Soccer League competition began with teams turning up for competition at the IPA oval in Port Moresby.

The SP PNG Hunters narrowly went down to Mackay Cutters in round 16 of the Intrust Supers Cup campaign, played over the weekend.

 

The Cutters interrupted the Hunters winning streak, with an undisputed 20-4 win, while the Hunters fighting spirit were left high and dry, to several injuries.

 

Bisini Sports Parade is finally going under redevelopment; it is one of the major sporting grounds that will host the 2015 Pacific Games. This sporting ground will accommodate more than five different sporting codes including lawn ball.

 

Minister for sports and the Pacific Games, Justin Tkachenko apologized for the delay but assured the public that the venues would be completed on time.

 

PNG Swim engine Ryan Pini, was in the studio to get his story on his training, his past recent events and his preparations towards the upcoming events.

 

He said that while PNG has potential, we still have a long way to go to creating world class swimmers, although the PNG Swimming Federation has already taken steps in the right direction in giving young swimmers the opportunity to travel and receive better training.

 

The PNG Football Association selected its 30 men squad for the Pacific Games, with both Hekari’s Keepers and almost its entire midfield in the team.

 

Lae and Morobe contribute a number of players, with youth from both Eastern stars and Besta FC also making the cut. Only one overseas based player has been named.
