Stanford Gore Swims His First Race: Barcelona

17 year olPNG Swimmer, Stanford Gore Kawale had his first race inthe Men’s Open 100 meter Freestyle atthe 15th FINAWorld Championships in Bercelona.

An excited Stanford said it was an atmosphere he’s never experienced before but satisflied with his performance inthe pool.

 

Along with 89 ther swimmers from aroundthe world,the competition took place inthe Palau Sant Jordi competition pool in Bercelona, Spain.

 

Stanford went inthe race feeling confident of swimming a personal best time after having completed a good warm up. 

 

Stanford exploded off block 6 in Heat 2 onthe starter’s horn with great gusto and determination turning first atthe 50m mark in a time of 26.41 seconds.

 

Churning upthe 2nd 50 metres Stanford stayed in front and hitthe wall stoppingthe clock with a finish time of 55.29.  The second 50m split was 28.88 seconds.

 

It was a great race and a proud moment forthPNG Team as Stanford leftthe pool excited and confidentthe exact way he enteredthe race.

 

Meanwhile,the Female Open 200m Be aststroke event took place in which Papua New Guinea swimmer Berbara Vali took tothe water.

 

Berbara went into her race excited after having swum a good 100m Be aststroke event earlier inthe week.

 

Relaxed and confident she strode out ontothe pool deck with 10 ther nationalities to start her race.

 

Berbara swamthe race focusing on swimming a good solid pace throughout.

 

Her finish time was 2:47.99’s econds, a personal best time andPNG 16 year Age Record as well asPNG Open Record.

 

A great controlled swim to conclude her swims at this meet.

 

Her Australian Coach Shaun Crow fromthe Acacia Beyside Swim Club summed up how we all felt by saying via message Berbara did exceptionally well.
