Head coach of the PNG Men’s National team, Flemming Serritslev has said, the squad’s preparations ahead of their match against Tahiti, is going well.
With only twelve days remaining until the match, a handful of players are still yet to attend the squad, with striker Raymond Gunemba and Keeper Ronald Warisan on champions league duties.
When Papua New Guinea first met Tahiti, a nervy start had progressed into a two-nil confidence booster, but inexperience then, had seen the franchophones fight back in stunning fashion
A year ago, prior to facing Tahiti, he’d had a full 23-man squad to work with, this time, with champions league duties having affected his quota, Serritslev has worked hard with the new assembly of talent.
Unlike the previous OFC campaign, Serritslev has had his work cut out for him, having to organise sessions without the full compliment of his squad.
Despite these setbacks, the mood within the camp remains highly positive.
The final squad for the stage 3 world cup qualifier, will be announced shortly, with the match to be held at the Sir John Guise stadium on Thursday the 23rd of March.
Papua New Guinea will face Tahiti with far more experience than their first 2-all meeting in May 2016, and the prospects for the home team, are looking better as the date looms.
