The occasion attracted an estimated 5,000 people as early as 5.30am at the Coastwatchers Memorial Lighthouse.

It began with a welcome address by Daniel Aloi, Provincial Administrator followed by the National Anthem and Pledge lead by the Madang United Church.

A short reflection was given by Fr Peter Hunter from the Anglican Church followed by an address by Jim Kas, Governor of Madang.

The members of the Public participated in the laying of Wreath, before the Ode of Remembrance was recited by Ex Service Man, Sylvester Kalaut.

A minute of silence was observed before the program ended with a final blessing by Fr John Ryan from the Catholic Church.

Business houses contributed towards the event that is so far the largest gathering for the Remembrance Day Services.

The Dawn Service was followed by a simple gun breakfast catered for over 1000.
