Damien Ravu is not a familiar name in the PNG Hebou Barramundis and this is because he was newly added to the team prior to the ICC Inter-Continental Cup Round 6 against Scotland here on home soil a week ago.
Ravu is now the 117th Papua New Guinean to represent the country at senior level.
Coming all the way from the Lae Cricket Association, Fast Bowler Ravu was one of only two players selected for the ICC ICUP/World Cricket League Championships (WCLC) Round 6 Fixtures against Scotland.
Both of whom are not from the Port Moresby Cricket Association (POMCA).
Having played majority of his senior cricket in the Lae Cricket Association (LCA) for the Hoods Cricket Club, the Fast Bowler proved a worthy addition in his debut with a brisk 32 runs off 35 balls, batting number ten (10) in the Hebou PNG Barramundis’ 1st inning total of 404 in the ICUP.
And he took 1/96 in his maiden wicket in 26.2 overs.
Ravu was issued his Baggy Black 10 days ago, prior to the meet with Scotland.
This addition to the PNG outfit looks promising as they head into their last fixture against Hong Kong next month in the Emirates.
