The Treasury Minister and Aitape-Lumi MP, Patrick Pruaitch, during his visit to Aitape last Wednesday challenged his people to stop waiting for more government services.
“The country is 40 years old today (last Wednesday), do not sleep and expect the government to give you everything you want,” Pruaitch said.
While he gave his assurance on the complete sealing of the Sepik Highway from Wewak to Vanimo, Pruaitch said the highway will play an active role in making sure the people sustain themselves in economic activities, agriculture projects, trade and SMEs.
“I assure you all that by 2017, the Sepik Highway will be complete, but do not waste what the government will deliver,” Pruaitch said.
There in Aitape, he commissioned two new ambulances for the Raihu District Hospital and challenged management and staff not to misuse the vehicles, just as past vehicles had been.
“The government cannot waste money to maintain such projects that can be maintained by you, it is wasting public funds,” Pruaitch said.
