The Pride of Papua New GuineaAwards for Womenhas been launched today.
It is a community service initiative by City Pharmacy recognizing and rewarding achievements by simple Papua New Guineawomen.
This is its sixth year in running.
This year’s launch was well attended by different representatives fromthe diplomatic mission, NGO’s and corporate heads withthe Patron himself Governor General Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio doingthe honors.
The awards system has identiflied many unsung heroes in this nation. More importantly it has been a platform for women empowerment.
Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio says women are central tothe development of successful economies and stable societies; and as such must be giventhe recognitionthey deserve.
The assistancethe women receive from this initiative is related tothe categoriesthey win.
The six categories are as follows:
- YounPNG
- Beavery and Courage
- Community Spirit
- Care and Compassion
- Environment
- Education/Role Model
It is unique in that all winners are being given assistance by City Pharmacy Limited every year, not just a one off thing.
