Police Deployed to Gabagaba

Three units from the Police Mobile Squad in Port Moresby, have been deployed to Gabagaba village in the Central Province.

That is a manpower of 30 personnel.

Their deployment is to increase police presence in the Rigo District, as a result of a land dispute between Gabagaba and Ginigolo villagers.

The dispute is allegedly due to the burning down of houses and the destruction of food gardens.

Police alleged that the disagreement eventuated yesterday and continued for hours yesterday.

Police on the ground told EMTV News, that there are unconfirmed reports of injuries, and most women and children have fled the village.

The three mobile squads, including the Central Highway Patrol Unit, will be on patrol along the Magi Highway to prevent the situation from escalating.

An official police report will be released tomorrow.
