PNG Teacher’s Association Rejects Government Decision

The Papua New Guinea Teachers Association has rejected the Government’s decision to pay teachers outstanding salaries in installments.

This comes after PNGTA was told, their promised three (3) percent increase increments were not budgeted for in the 2018 National Budget.

Following meetings with the Teachers Services Commission,and the Government, discussed resolved that teachers will be paid outstanding salaries for 2017 over 24 fortnights in 2018.

The outstanding payments for 2018 will be paid in 2019. The procedure will also be repeated in 2019.

However, PNGTA has rejected that discussion and says it wants the government to pay up the outstanding of 2017 within five fortnights.
