Paraka Files Handover Today

Acting Police Commissioner, Geoffrey Vaki, is expected to take possession of investigation files into the Paraka payMen’s, at 2pm today.

Police Media has advised that Commissioner Vaki will be holding a press conference at 2pm, at which time, the files are expected to be handed over to him by Detective Chief Superintendent Matthew Damaru, Director of the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Division of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.

Since Commissioner Vaki took office, he has repeatedly called on the rank and file, and critics in the public arena, to give him the benefit of the doubt, and allow him to ensure that the case files are beyond question, before following it through with due process.

The case files into the Paraka payMen’s, include new evidence which has led to the courts raising an arrest warrant, to enable the process of interview for Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

A legal pre-requisite under the PNG Criminal Code Act for all instances of alleged official corruption, the arrest warrant was upheld by the National Court on Monday.

Once the warrant of arrest has been served, the person served, is required by law, to make themselves available for interview by investigators.
