PNG citizens applying for new passports will be issuedthe new āCā series passportoincorporatingthe new look.
This was announced by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration Rimbink Pato in a media statement on yesterday.
He sain PNG is moving closer towards introducing a biometric e-Passport that will incorporate personal bio-data and additional identifiers such as fingerprinting and iris information embedded on a microchip to minimisethe risk oPNG passports being used for fraudulent purposes.
TheInternational Civil Aviation Organization has been engaged bythPNG Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority to undertake an audit of its current passport issuing system and processes.
The ICAO will also assisPNG Immigration to evaluate existing e-Passport systems with a view to procuring a system offeringthe best security features and value for money forPNG
