The NCD Commission presented a cheque of K30, 000 to organizers staging the Battle of the Bands.
The event provides an opportunity for emerging musicians to showcase their talents and battle it out.
NCD Governor Powes Parkop said it is the kind of program that is worth investing in because it pushes his agenda to improve our capital.
After auditions earlier this year, over 40 bands will be competing in this year’s battle of the bands.
Five of them were present to witness an exchange of K30, 000 between NCD Commission and the event organizers, Pascoe Promotions and Pidgin Productions yesterday.
Parkop encouraged the bands to use this as a platform to launch their careers in music and make something better of themselves as individual.
Battle of the bands is an initiative of the Active City Campaign under the Yoga for life Program.
Pidgin Productions Director Arjun Gyani confirmed the band will be battling out cover songs at Markets around Port Moresby as a way of giving back to the community.
Gyani says the top ten contenders will be required to compose their own songs and given the privilege of recording music videos with Pidgin Productions.
Battle of the band sponsor click TV is said to be releasing these videos.
