Morobe Governor Kelly Naru has urgedthe government to review Section 145 ofthe Constitution that supportsFreedom of Religionin Papua New Guinea

He toldthe people that he is cautious about Section 145 oPNG’s Constitution that speaks aboutFreedom of Religionin Papua New Guinea
“Should we allow Section 145 to remain as it is so thattheFreedom of Religionis practised by all including Christian,” said Naru.
The Morobe Provincial Government has been incorporatingthe work of churches withinthe provincial government by giving one-tenth of its internal revenue to Christian churches inthe province.
Governor Naru has raised concerns over outside pressure that will most likely be influenced by non-Christian fait’s.
“Underthe guides oftheFreedom of Religionconceptoall sought of religions are coming in,” Naru said.
“We Christians are a minority inthe world practicing Christianity&hellipthere are bigger religious populous powers inthe world than Christians.
“Such religions like Muslim, Baddhism, Hinduism, and thers arethe religions that can be introduced in PNG because Section 145 ofthe Constitution allowsthem to so,” he said.
The constitution has been one ofthe concerns raised by churches in Lae.
Their call has received equal opposition bythe Morobe Provincial Government.
Some blame has also been levelled againstthe Asylum Centre Deall. Many Christian churches aroundthe country are sayingthe agreement must just open up entry for people from non-Christian backgrounds.
